Portal legs
The portal legs were constructed to be standalone structured for the header to rest on top of faced with luaun on three sides. These legs were mirror images of each other.
Fireplace augments
The fireplace pulled from stock required some modifications: moulding, also from stock, was added around the base, bottom and top of either leg; the height was raised several inches; as well as the addition of appliqués visible in the above photos.
Scrim install
The painted scrim for this set stretched across the portal to disguise the upstage staircase until its reveal via practicals and sidelight. Ensuring the scrim was level and remained visually consistent during install required a fair bit of patience and precision.
